Cyber Security — Program 01

Cyber Security Foundations

Everyone starts here. Six weeks building the groundwork most courses assume you already have, then ten weeks of security proper. The people who do not make it in this field are stopped by subnetting and Linux permissions, not by exploitation — so this programme spends real time there, and tests you on it before you go further.

4 months · 16 weeks 4 live hours a week 5–6 lab hours a week Level Complete beginner

( Who it is for )

You need

  • None. You need to be comfortable with a computer — not with networking, Linux or code.

It prepares you for

  • Junior IT security work, and a qualified choice between the two specialisms
  • CompTIA Security+
  • ISC2 CC

( Curriculum — 16 weeks )

Phase 01Weeks 1–6

The groundwork

Build your own lab and learn the systems you will spend a career defending or attacking.

  • Virtualisation and your own lab
  • TCP/IP, subnetting, routing
  • DNS, HTTP, TLS, Wireshark
  • Linux command line and permissions
  • Windows services, registry, Active Directory
  • Bash and Python, and Git
Phase 02Weeks 7–12

Security core

The concepts an employer and an exam both expect, each one practised rather than described.

  • Threats, attackers and MITRE ATT&CK
  • Cryptography and PKI in practice
  • Identity and access management
  • Firewalls, segmentation, IDS/IPS
  • Endpoint hardening and baselines
  • Vulnerability management and CVSS
Phase 03Weeks 13–15

First defensive skills

The most employable weeks of the programme — this is what a junior analyst does on day one.

  • Log sources and the events that matter
  • Deploy monitoring, watch your own attacks
  • The incident response lifecycle
  • Triage, containment, evidence handling
  • Writing an incident report
  • Phishing and social engineering analysis
Phase 04Week 16

Law, ethics and capstone

Where the line is, and proof that you can work inside it.

  • Authorisation, scope, rules of engagement
  • Cyber law in Pakistan and abroad
  • Capstone: harden it, monitor it, report it
  • Security+ readiness review

The capstone.

You harden your own lab network, deploy monitoring, and then an attack is run against it. You deliver a short incident report and defend it — marked on the report and the defence, not on whether you caught everything.

You finish with: A home lab you built and can rebuild · A GitHub repository of scripts and lab notes · A hardening report, your own detections and a written incident report · Security+ readiness and an informed choice of specialism.
